Value chain development

ASWARUDEP in collaboration with FAO undertook a series of training workshops, facilitated linkages between cassava water-fufu producers/processors and buyers/traders in three villages within Fako Division. We have mobilized and trained community based organisations (CBOs) made up of 112 farmers (97 women and 15 men). We focused on cassava and Non Timber Forest Products (NTFP) processing and marketing. Other themes covered cassava production techniques, processing to water fufu and garri, processing equipment, hygiene and sanitation in processing and storage, group dynamics and conflict management, Marketing and Market information gathering and sharing.  We have established win-win links between buyers and producers. A total 168 farmers were registered in the Esoko marketing platform and target groups have improved on basic record keeping.
