Empowerment in crop production
In the last five years, we have empowered over 610 beneficiaries in the domain of crop production with women making slightly above 70% of the total population. Predominantly women farmers have been empowered using the farmer field and business school approach. This modern practice have led to increase yield per hectare and hence increased household income. So far, ASWA-RUDEP has empowered communities in Cocoa, rice, yam and maize production. We also provide loans to farmers through a revolving fund scheme and accompany these farmers in the establishment of group farms.
We are currently working with FAO Cameroon providing capacity building in poultry farming to internally displaced persons in the north west and south west Regions of Cameroon. This project has benefited 4000 internally displaced persons and host families. And we have distributed 13,000 three-week old chicks. The second phase of the project will start in the coming months and will be accompanied with vegetable farming.
